The first week of Oct 2013 has been very eventful for MSSI
and we had actively participated in ‘Joy of Giving’ and ‘Seva Mela’. While with ‘Joy of Giving ‘, we were able to
reach out to the general public with ‘Seva Mela’ we were able to connect with
corporates and other NGOs.
As we all know, MS still remains to be an unknown
disease/disorder. So, the main focus
area at both these events was to create awareness about MS.
During the course of the week, Hardly 10 people out of thousands,
whom we met during these days, knew
about MS. Out of these 10 people, nearly
6 were from the medical profession. In
general, less than 0.2% of the
society has heard of MS. In this
scenario, MSSI is glad that we were able to reach out to about 6000 people, distributing flyers, explaining
1.
What MS is.
2.
The symptoms of MS.
3.
Importance of early detection and treatment of
MS.
4.
The role played by MSSI.
5.
Role of corporates and society in combating MS.
A Glimpse at the events:

All of this was possible because of the help and support
extended to us by BOSCH, FORUM VIJAYA MALL, PRINCE ARCADE and volunteers from
HCL Technologies Ltd, RR Donnelly, Caterpillar and student-volunteers from the
Statistics Department, Loyola College.
Our sincere thanks to all of them.
